Recycling Facts; Ceramics

However you look at it recycling is big news and will continue to be for some time to come.  Whilst we all know what recycling is do we know what really happens to the materials once we’ve put them into the bin or skip?  With old ceramic items such as bathroom sinks and toilets from building and demolition works it’s quite simple.

Ceramic is an inert material, i.e. it will not decompose so it is a great material for recycling.  Once it is received at the waste facility it is sorted to meet UK protocols and mixed and crushed with rubble and stone to produce a product which can be re-used by builders and civil engineers.  There are various grades which can be produced including 100/40 graded clean stone used for filling roads, Type 1 by grading used for capping off and 6f2 used as a bulking material.  The benefits of using these recycled materials are that they are less expensive and it’s a conservation of resources.

At Todd Waste Management we’re a company who’re whole heartedly committed to recycling so we recycle old ceramic to produce these products.  So when you’re looking for recycling York, recycling Thirsk, recycling Scarborough or recycling Malton, recycling Northallerton or practically anywhere in North Yorkshire you’d be best served by contacting Todd Waste Management.
